A woman from Zephyrhills, FL was pronounced dead following a crash that happened on U.S. 27 on Monday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Jessiely Aponte was traveling at a high-speed on U.S. 27 in her 2011 Chrysler 200 while she was in the back of a commercial truck.
Aponte failed to slow down and immediately hit the back of the commercial truck that was also traveling on U.S. 27. Aponte was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers are still unclear if Aponte was wearing a seat belt or if alcohol was an influence in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
