Police Officer and Civilian Injured in Dunedin Two-Vehicle Crash on Main Street
Dunedin, Florida (January 11, 2018) – A police officer and a civilian were hospitalized after a vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon in Dunedin, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision happened at around 4:04 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at the intersection of Main Street and Pinehurst Road.
Deputies said an on-duty officer identified as 45-year-old Jennifer Zinge was driving an unmarked 2013 Ford Fusion heading west on Main Street and approaching Pinehurst Road.
A 2000 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Main Street and also approaching Pinehurst Road when the driver, George A. Gillies, 86, of Dunedin, tried to turn north onto Pinehurst Road and entered into the path of Zinge’s vehicle, leading to a collision.
Both drivers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies said Gillies was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.
