Head-On Collision on U.S. 1 Kills Jason Morales and Roberto Alfredo Blasco Jr.
Islamorada, FL (October 27, 2017) – A head-on collision killed two men and shut down the highway for almost two hours Wednesday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the collision to have occurred on U.S. 1 at Mile Marker 79 near Bud N’ Mary’s Marina around 3:10 p.m. October 25.
The report showed that 28-year-old Jason Morales, of Key West, was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry southbound when it hit the median and rear-ended a northbound 2018 Volvo truck driven by 59-year-old Andres Gonzalez Suarez, of Miami Gardens. This caused the Camry to hit a northbound 2017 Mack truck, which then struck a Volvo driven by 38-year-old Luis Aguiar, of Homestead.
The collision killed Morales at the scene. Another man, 46-year-old Roberto Alfredo Blasco Jr., of Key West, was killed in the collision. It is unclear whether he was a passenger on Morales’ vehicle or not.
The FHP does not suspect drugs or alcohol to be involved with Suarez or Aguiar.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victims in the collision.
