Jaidyn T. Ryan Dies after Colliding with Van on U.S. 1 in Stuart
Stuart, Florida (February 13, 2018) – A boy was killed when the bicycle he was riding collided with a van on Monday evening in Stuart, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The victim has been identified as 14-year-old Jaidyn T. Ryan, of Stuart.
The incident happened at around 7:15 p.m. Monday, February 12 on U.S. 1, just south of Indian Street.
According to the FHP report, Ryan was riding his bicycle eastbound across U.S. 1 when he ran into a southbound Dodge Sprinter driven by 51-year-old Alan C. Rithamel, of Trevor, Wisconsin.
Ryan was declared dead at the scene. Rithamel was not injured in the crash, officials said.
Two southbound lanes on U.S. 1 were shut down at around 9 p.m. and reopened shortly after.
The crash remains under an active investigation.
