Three Injured in Palm Harbor Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 19
Palm Harbor, Florida (January 21, 2018) – Three people were injured when their vehicle was rear-ended by a teen who was over speeding early Sunday morning in Palm Harbor, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened shortly after 1:41 a.m. on U.S. Highway 19 at the intersection of Tampa Road.
Deputies said Kingzig Montanez, 18, of Holiday, was driving a Hyundai Elantra southbound on U.S. 19 at a high rate of speed near Innisbrook Drive when he was spotted by a deputy, who flashed his lights in an attempt to stop him.
Montanez lost the deputy and continued southbound up to the intersection of Tampa Road, about two-and-half miles south, where he rear-ended a Fiat 500 that was stopped at a red light.
The driver of the Fiat, Heath Ready, 28, of Clearwater and his passengers, Anabelle Gardner, 22, and Richard Serra III, 27, were all transported to Mease Countryside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Montanez attempted to flee the scene but the deputies caught up with him. He was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment.
Montanez is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting arrest without violence and not being in possession of a driving license.
