Motorcyclist Killed in Fort Lauderdale Crash with at Broward Boulevard and Southwest Third Avenue
Fort Lauderdale, Florida (November 4, 2017) – A motorcycle rider was killed Friday morning in a crash involving a pickup truck at an intersection in downtown Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.
The fatal crash took place at about 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of at Broward Boulevard and Southwest Third Avenue.
Police said a motorcyclist was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle westbound on Broward Boulevard. At the same time, a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Broward Boulevard. The driver of the pickup then made a left-turn to travel northbound on Southwest Third Avenue and crossed into the path of the bike. The motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the pickup.
According to the police, the rider died at the crash scene. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The pickup driver remained at the scene after the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
