Fleming Island High School Student Killed in Orange Park Train-Pedestrian Accident near Doctors Lake Drive and Woodland Avenue
Orange Park, Florida (January 25, 2018) – A Fleming Island High School Student was fatally struck by a train on Thursday morning in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. near the railroad crossing at Doctors Lake Drive and Woodland Avenue in Orange Park.
The circumstances leading up to the crash were unclear.
According to Amtrak officials, the Amtrak Train 53 had 329 passengers on board when the crash occurred. None of the passengers was injured.
The road was blocked for several hours as the scene was cleared.
The Florida Highway Patrol is working alongside the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to establish the cause of the crash.
