Woman Seriously Injured in Nassau County Pedestrian Crash on U.S. 1
Nassau County, Florida (December 14, 2017) – A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a police vehicle on Wednesday night in Nassau County, according to FHP.
The accident occurred at about 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, on U.S. 1 at Ratliff road, near Callahan.
FHP said the woman was standing in the inside travel lane of the highway when a vehicle veered off the lane to avoid striking her. An unmarked police pickup truck, driven by Michael King, 39, of Folkston, Georgia, was not able to avoid her and ended up striking the victim.
The woman was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the woman’s clothing was dark and the driver was not able to spot her on the road.
