S.R. 53 Car Collision Seriously Injures Female Driver from Texas
Madison County, FL (September 14, 2017) – A female driver is in serious condition after her car was struck as it was pulled off the side of S.R. 53 early Thursday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash on Thursday, September 14 on S.R. 53. The report showed that a 57-year-old female driver from Texas drove her Toyota Rav4 southbound on the road at a speed of around 15 mph.
Troopers shared that the car had already slowed down as it was looking for an area where it could turn around. The vehicle was partially on the road’s paved shoulder when it was hit by a southbound Dodge Journey driving at a speed of 55 mph.
Since it was foggy and dark, the driver of the Dodge failed to see the slow-moving Toyota on the shoulder, and instead rear-ended it.
As a result of the impact, the Toyota spun in a circle and hit a guardrail. Its driver was rushed to the Madison County Hospital with serious injuries after the collision.
The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized. He had a passenger with him, who was uninjured.
Troopers say there are no charges pending in the collision.
