Erick Lizardi Killed in Hillsborough County Pedestrian Accident on Sligh Avenue
Hillsborough County, Florida (January 6, 2018) – On Friday afternoon, a Tampa man was killed after he was hit by a dump truck in Hillsborough County, according to a local news source.
The man has been identified as 20-year-old Erick Lizardi.
The incident unfolded at around 12:50 p.m. Friday, January 5 on Sligh Avenue near west of U.S. 301.
According to authorities, Lizard was walking southbound on Sligh when he attempted to cross the other side of the road, just west of U.S. 301. He walked into the path of a 2000 Peterbilt dump truck driven by 46-year-old Benjamin Joseph Richardson Jr., of plant city.
Richardson was driving north on U.S. 301 and was trying to make a left turn onto Sligh when the accident happened. Richardson had the green light.
Lizardi sustained grave injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to deputies, no charges are expected.
