County Road 484 Two-Vehicle Collision Kills Edwina Griffin and Seriously Injures John Griffin
Marion County, FL (September 13, 2017) – A collision between a pickup truck and a passenger van Tuesday night has killed a 92-year-old female passenger and seriously injured her husband.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that on September 12 evening, 62-year-old Paul Griffin, of Newnan, Ga., drove his 2013 Ford F-150 southbound on County Road 475. As he entered the intersection of County Road 484, he crashed into a westbound 2013 Toyota Sienna traveling on the road.
The impact caused the pickup truck to rollover in the intersection and hit a concrete raised island.
When responders from the Marion County Fire Rescue arrived, they declared Edwina Griffin, 92, of Newnan, Ga., dead at the scene of the crash.
Edwina’s husband, John Griffin, 92, of Newnan, Ga., sustained serious injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, along with another passenger, Penny Griffin, 60, of Newnan, Ga, who sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Sienna, Jessica Thurow, 38, of Summerfield, was uninjured in the crash. Thurow was with Jeffrey Bates, 38, of Summerfield, who was also uninjured.
