Dump Truck Struck By Train in Port St. Lucie
Port St. Lucie, FL – According to St. Lucie Fire District, a dump truck was struck by a train on Glades Cutoff Road at the C24 Canal.
The accident took place Thursday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the dump truck has yet to be found because the dump truck was thrown into the canal due to the impact.
According to reports, the dump truck was driving southeast on the dirt road at the entrance of 12071 Glades Cutoff Road across the tracks. At that moment, the train was approaching the railroad crossing going southeast.
The train did not derail.
The cab of the dump truck got separated from its body.
A search and rescue team were dispatched to look for the driver for several hours, but with no luck.
They are continuing the search Friday morning.
Whether the driver is alive remains unknown.
