Deadly 1-91 Crash Involving 2 Tractor-Trailers and 4 Cars
A fatal crash involving two tractor-trailers and four cars lead to the death of one person and the closure of a section of an interstate highway in western Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The death was a man of 33 years of age from Thomaston, Connecticut. Three other people had suffered injuries. The man’s name, who had died at the scene, was not released.
According to Massachusetts State Police, the accident took place on a Saturday morning at approximately 7 AM in the northbound lanes of Interstate 91 in Longmeadow.
One tractor-trailer hit the back of another tractor-trailer which caused the collision of the other vehicles.
It was said that one of the truck drivers were killed by the spokesman for the Springfield fire department who was assisting at the scene.
The highway was temporarily closed from Enfield, Connecticut to Longmeadow remained closed for several hours for cleanup and investigation, stated authorities.
The highway was barely reopened at 5 PM the same day.
Traffic was detoured to Route 5.
