US 19 Motorcycle-Car Crash Kills 47-Year-Old Dunnellon Man
Crystal River, FL (September 4, 2017) – A motorcyclist traveling on U.S. 19 was killed Sunday evening after another vehicle struck his vehicle.
According to the report filed by the Florida Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Curtis Dyess, of Dunnellon, rode his 1987 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on the road near the intersection of West Bentbow Path when it was struck by a 2014 GMC Acadia driven by 31-year-old Thomas Yates, of Crytal River. For unknown reasons, Dyess stopped his motorcycle on the road, causing it to fall over on top of his leg. Yates was unable to stop his vehicle in time and struck the motorcycle and its driver.
Dyess was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. He was killed at the scene.
Yates and his passenger, 32-year-old Andrea Hampton, of Crystal River, were uninjured in the crash.
