Connor Hawkins Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on SR 47 and SW Brentwood Way
Columbia County, FL (October 27, 2017) – A two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon has killed an infant and injured five others, including two who sustained serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the collision to have occurred around 4 p.m. October 22 on SR 47 and SW Brentwood Way.
The report showed that 22-year-old Aimee Blatherwick drove a Toyota that struck a stopped Hyundai driven by 26-year-old Elizabeth Hawkins. Hawkins was about to make a left turn when her vehicle was rear-ended.
The Hyundai had a total of four passengers at the time of the crash, including Connor Hawkins, an infant who was brought to the hospital where he later died from critical injuries. It also seriously injured the driver and another passenger, 77-year-old Mary Patterson. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. 53-year-old Deborah Baker, another passenger, sustained minor injuries. Troopers said the adults were wearing seatbelts while the baby was in a car seat.
Meanwhile, Blatherwick and her passenger, 18-year-old Samira Halabi, sustained minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital for treatment. They were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Charges are pending.
