Broward Sheriff’s Police Department reported that two girls have been pronounced dead and five others were injured after a stolen vehicle crashed that overturned on the railway tracks in Pompano Beach.
According to the Broward Deputies, a Toyota sedan was traveling west on Northwest 15th street when it veered off out of the road, hit a metal crossing arm and overturned once it hit the CSX tracks that is west of Interstate 95.
It has been reported that two young girls at the ages of 12 years-old have died due to this accident.
However, four other girls and one boy have been seriously injured and were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center.
The Broward Police Department has not released any information on the identities of the children and has declined to discuss any information on the children’s whereabouts before the incident or where, when and who the stolen vehicle was driven by.
One family has identified one of the deceased 12-year-old as Chayanna Nesmith. Nesmith has a 13-year-old sister who was also involved in the crash and is suffering from major injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigators led by the Homicide Unit.
