Head-on Collision at SR-97 and Highway 29 Leaves Carolyn Vannuys and Rachel Parish Seriously Injured
Molino, Florida (December 22, 2017) – Two women sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 29 in Molino Thursday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash took place at about 5:24 a.m. Thursday, December 21, at SR-97 and Highway 29.
According to FHP report, 73-year-old Elroy Vannuys and 71-year-old Carolyn Vannuys, both from Montgomery, were traveling southbound on Highway 29 at the intersection of State Road 97.
At the same time, 36-year-old Rachel Parish, of Pensacola was driving a second car northbound on Highway 29 approaching the intersection.
As per the report, Elroy entered at the intersection, failed to notice Parish’s vehicle and tried to turn left onto SR-97 when the two vehicles crashed head-on.
Elroy sustained minor injuries while Carolyn Vannuys suffered serious injuries in the crash were taken to West Florida Hospital.
Parish sustained serious injuries while her passenger, Lisa Bembeneck of Pensacola got minor injuries. The two women were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital.
Charges of Improper Turn were filed against E. Vannuys as a result of the investigation.
