Boater Canaan Johnson Killed in Lee County Boat Crash on Pine Island Sound Identified
Lee County, Florida (December 19, 2017) – The man killed in a fatal boat crash on Sunday evening in Lee County has been identified.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Canaan Johnson, 40, of Fort Myers, died in the accident that occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, on Pine Island Sound, near Hemp Key.
The report stated that Johnson was ejected from the 19-foot watercraft when it struck a sandbar. He was then struck and killed by the boat.
Three other people who were on board were not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
