Barry Powell Jr. Killed in Bartow Auto-Pedestrian Accident on Highway 60
Bartow, Florida (November 26, 2017) – A 37-year-old Bartow man lost his life in a hit-and-run accident that took place early Sunday morning in Bartow, a local news source reported.
The victim has been identified as Barry Powell of N. Pleasant Avenue in Bartow.
The accident was reported at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, November 26 on westbound Highway 60, just east of Cedar Trail Landfill.
According to the article, Powell was walking westbound along the shoulder of the highway when a vehicle traveling the same direction struck him.
Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver involved fled the scene without offering aid to the victim. The suspect vehicle was only described as a black car.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the hit-and-run driver. The vehicle is believed to have damage to the passenger side, front head lamp assembly and front quarter panel.
