Barbara Thomas, Bridget Murphree, and Wilma MacRae Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 19 in Crystal River
Crystal River, Florida (December 9, 2017) – A driver ran a red light at the entrance of Crystal River Place at 408 U.S. 19 in Crystal River causing a two-car collision that left three people injured on Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at the Crystal River Plaza entrance at 408 U.S. 19 on Friday, December 8.
Troopers said the driver of a Buick LaCrosse, Bridget Murphree, 31, of Lecanto was traveling southbound on U.S. 19 when she ran a red light at the intersection and struck a Buick Lucerne, driven by Barbara Thomas, 76, of Crystal River, and was on a green light. The crash pushed Thomas’ vehicle off the roadway and slammed into a pole.
Thomas suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.
Murphree’s passenger, Wilma MacRae, 91, of Homosassa, sustained a head injury and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Murphree was treated for minor injuries.
Troopers cited Murphree for disobeying a traffic light.
