Anita Bishop Seriously Injured Interstate 10 Traffic Crash in Jackson County
Jackson County, Florida (December 6, 2017) – A 74-year-old Council Bluffs woman was seriously injured after being involved in a two-car crash Tuesday morning in Jackson County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The elderly driver was identified by the FHP as Anita Bishop, of Council Bluffs, Lowa.
The accident transpired at approximately 10:49 a.m. Tuesday, December 5 on Interstate 10 near Mile Marker 130.
Troopers said that both Bishop’s Dodge Journey SUV and a Kenworth tractor-trailer rig driven by Toribio Mendoza, 51, of Springs, Texas, were trying to exit I-10 when they collided. Bishop allegedly exited at the last minute and was unable to see the Kenworth already in the exit lane. The left side of the Kenworth was struck by the right side of the Dodge. Both vehicles then collided into a guardrail and overturned due to the impact of the collision.
Bishop was transported to Jackson Hospital with serious injuries while Mendoza was not injured in the incident.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
We wish a quick recovery to the victims of this accident. It is disheartening when a reckless party subjects an innocent person to suffering.
