Amber Kay and Eileen Ouimet Seriously Injured in Walmart Parking Lot Crash at 13140 S. Tamiami Trail
Sarasota County, Florida (November 22, 2017) – Two drivers were taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a car crash in a parking lot Monday morning in Sarasota County, a local news source reported.
The drivers were identified as 68-year-old Amber Kay of Ozark, Missouri and 86-year-old Eileen Ouimet of Sarasota.
The accident took place at around 8:45 a.m. Monday, November 20 in the Walmart parking lot at 13140 S. Tamiami Trail.
According to the article, Ouimet was driving a Toyota Camry in the parking lot of the Post Office at 333 S. Tamiami Trail when she began to accelerate rapidly. Her vehicle crossed Bay Acres Avenue, struck the curb and entered the Walmart parking lot at 13140 S. Tamiami Trail.
The Toyota struck another curb and crashed into a Toyota Prius driven by Kay. The Toyota Camry overturned and hit a pole before turning upright and hitting another car.
Kay sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Ouimet, who was also wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the same hospital. She was cited with careless driving.
Police are investigating the crash.
