Gainesville Woman Alexia Williams Struck and Killed While Walking Dog on 39th Avenue
Gainesville, Florida (November 28, 2017) – A 19-year-old woman was struck killed alongside her dog on Monday while walking in Gainesville, according to a report.
The crash happened on 39th Avenue near 21st Street on Monday, November 27.
Alexia Williams was struck by a truck that was traveling eastbound on 39th Avenue. Authorities are investigating the possibility that the dog ran into the road and Williams ran after it when the vehicle struck both of them.
Her dog died at the scene.
Williams was rushed to UF Health where she later died.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Williams was also struck by a car as he was trying to assist her. He sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
