Agustin Cruz Seriously Hurt in Charlotte County Lawnmower Collision With Jeep
Charlotte County, Florida (November 10, 2017) – A Port Charlotte man suffered serious injuries after being involved in a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning in Charlotte County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Agustin Cruz, 77, was riding a lawnmower when he collided with a Jeep.
The major injury accident happened at an unknown time on Thursday, November 9 at the intersection of Hollis Avenue and State Road 776.
As per the report log, Agustin was riding the mower southeast on Hollis Avenue. As he approached the intersection with the highway, he tried heading southwest when he collided with an approaching Jeep Latitude driven by 58-year-old Arthur Maggi, of Bradenton. Maggi had reportedly attempted steering to the left, but unfortunately, his Jeep struck the left side of the mower. Cruz was thrown onto the roadway by the impact of the collision.
Paramedics airlifted him to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of the serious injuries that he sustained.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
