Scooter Rider Seriously Injured in Daytona Beach Crash with Dirt Bike on Hudson Street
Daytona Beach, Florida (December 27, 2017) – An 8-year-old boy riding a scooter was on Monday evening hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a dirt bike driven by a 17-year-old girl in Daytona Beach.
According to Daytona Beach Police Department, the accident happened just before 5 p.m. on Monday, December 25, in the 400 block of Hudson Street.
Police said the Daytona Beach boy was riding an electric scooter alongside his friend southbound on Hudson Street when he was rear-ended by a green 85cc dirt bike.
The boy was thrown from the scooter and fell face down onto the street.
The girl riding the bike was also ejected from the vehicle.
The boy was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center with a fractured skull and a brain bleed. He was then airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.
The girl was treated for abrasions at Halifax.
Police are conducting an investigation into the accident.
