One Killed in Volusia County Motorcycle Crash with Car on U.S. 17
DeLand, Florida (January 27, 2018) – A 74-year-old Paisley man was killed in a motorcycle collision with a car on Saturday afternoon near DeLand in Volusia County, according to FHP.
The crash happened near the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and North Spring Garden Avenue at around 1:30 p.m.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was heading north on U.S. 17 when he turned left onto North Spring Garden Avenue and was struck by a car driven southbound on U.S. 17 by Norma Hinderaker, 89, of DeLand.
The motorcyclist was ejected by the impact and thrown into a utility pole.
FHP said the motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash. His name was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
Hinderaker was not injured.
It’s unclear whether there were any citations or charges.

It is difficult having to face the fact that a loved one is no longer there, but even more troublesome is coming to learn that they were brutally killed by the hands of malicious individuals. Justice needs to be sought in response to this criminal act, although at the firm of Percy Martinez for personal injury, we fully comprehend and emphasize with these victims because no amount of compensation can ever bring a loved one back. Along with the criminal punishments that these individuals will face, they could face the legal sanctions of a civil lawsuit for wrongful death.
