Two-Vehicle Head-On Collision on Highway 97 Seriously Injures 5
Walnut Hill, FL (October 2, 2017) – A total of five people were seriously injured after a two-vehicle head-on collision occurred Sunday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. October 1 on Highway 97 near Pine Forest Road.
The report showed that the two vehicles involved were a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 38-year-old Travis J. English, of Pensacola, and a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Tyler D. Respress, of Atmore. English’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch after the head-on crash.
Firefighters used a Jaws of Life to extricate the three people trapped inside the Hyundai. They were freed through the roof of the car. The people trapped inside the Hyundai were identified as English, 23-year-old Gabreal McDowell, of Pensacola, and 39-year-old Athena McBridge, of Cantonment.
Respress and his passenger 34-year-old Ashley Respress were seriously injured in the crash.
The injuries of English and McDowell were identified as serious. McBridge was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in critical condition.
All five were brought to a Pensacola hospital via ambulance, three of which were classified as trauma alerts.
The FHP is currently investigating the incident.
