Georgia Man Killed in SunRail Semi-Truck Crash with Train in Seminole County
Seminole County, Florida (November 30, 2017) – A 40-year-old truck driver was killed in a deadly train crash with a semi-truck in Seminole County on Thursday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The crash occurred at Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Plumosa Avenue, near the Altamonte Springs SunRail Station on Thursday at around noon.
The 40-year-old Georgia man was driving a semi-truck hauling wood and screening material. The truck was stopped on the rail tracks and was attempting to reverse onto the loading dock of business premises when the railroad arms came down. The truck driver tried to drive off the tracks, but the train slammed into the truck.
The truck driver died at the scene of the crash.
The train had 38 passengers on board, and none of them was injured.
The crash blocked Ronald Reagan Boulevard causing traffic to be diverted to Lyman Road.
The crash is under investigation.
