SR 71 and CR 280 Two-Vehicle Collision Injures 4
Jackson County, FL (September 25, 2017) – A two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon has sent a total of four people to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:55 p.m. on September 24 at the intersection of SR 71 and CR 280 (Magnolia Road).
Witnesses shared that 77-year-old Mildred Biggs, of Marianna, was driving a 2007 Toyota eastbound on CR 280. As she approached the intersection of SR 71, she stopped at the sign before turning left and struck a southbound 1996 Ford Ranger being driven by 73-year-old Leon Edward Williams, of Altha.
The right front of the Ford crashed with the left front of the Toyota before the latter rotated clockwise. It finally came to a stop in the intersection that faced southwest. Meanwhile, the Ford turned counterclockwise and stopped at the intersection facing east.
Both Biggs and her passenger, 81-year-old Harold Dean Biggs, of Marianna, were transported via Jackson County E.M.S. and Air Heart to Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. Meanwhile, Williams and his passenger, 62-year-old Janet Webb Williams, of Altha, were transported to the Jackson County Hospital via ambulance.
The two vehicles were towed from the scene.
