Roch Aoust, Danny Gilileo and Derrick Kelley Injured in Plane Crash near Marathon Airport in the Florida Keys
Florida Keys, Florida (January 25, 2018) – Three people were taken to a hospital after a small plane crash on Thursday afternoon in Marathon, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash took place at around 2:30 p.m. near Runway 7 at the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport.
Four people were on board the Piper PA-32 when it went down in a wooded area on the back side of the airport.
The pilot, Roch Aoust, of Panama City Beach, and two passengers, Danny Gilileo, 49, of Auburndale and Derrick Kelley, 53, also of Auburndale, were all airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center and Jackson South Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A fourth occupant of the plane, Tony Lewis, 60, of Lakeland, was treated for minor injuries.
The FAA will investigate the crash and its cause will be determined by the NTSB.
